Medical outreach programme
(5 days 1000 children)

In term of our healthcare initiatives and projects we have been actively visiting a number of communities within the Osolu Kingdom with our doctors and volunteers. We have reached out to communities that have been forgotten. We have compiled a short list of 21 children as they need further tests and referrals to hospitals. The rest have been treated and we hope to visit them again soon and continue our medical outreach missions until we build a new PHC. First we spent 2 days in the communities in February, namely Ago-Ajo, Moba and Petepete providing medical assistance to the underserved and needy. The situation was so serious and warranted immediate action. We saw over 150 children and more than 90% of them suffered from skin diseases and 15% were treated for malaria. The numbers have shocked us all and we have decided to continue our medical outreach missions.

We saw close to 370 children in March and April. We hope to use the medical outreach missions as an opportunity to improve the medical care being provided for these communities, especially children by engaging key partners in demonstrating the benefits of the medical outreach as well as the opportunities for improving the health in rural areas in Lagos State. Our requirements included purchasing various medical equipment as well as drugs including antibiotics, antiseptic soaps and creams, antibiotic ointments, de-worming medicine (targeting 8 primary schools in the area) and anti-fungal medications. We are planning to continue our medical outreach mission in June and July to achieve our target of 1000 children.

We would like to say thank you to all kind individual donors as well as supporters so far. Thank you to Dana Drugs, PZ Cussons and Suthman Real Estate Provider.
